Spotify Premium Prices 2026: Every US Plan Compared

Spotify Premium costs $12.99/month for the Individual plan in the US, after the January 2026 price increase. Duo is $18.99, Family is $21.99 for up to six accounts, and Student is $6.99 with Hulu access included. Every paid plan removes ads, lets you download music for offline listening and play any song in any order. Two extras now come with Premium in the US:

• Lossless audio. Spotify started rolling out lossless streaming to Premium in September 2025, at up to 24-bit/44.1 kHz FLAC, according to the Spotify newsroom.
• Audiobooks. Premium Individual includes 15 hours of audiobook listening per month from the subscriber catalog. On Duo and Family, those hours go to the plan manager only, and Spotify's page doesn't list them for Student.

#What's the difference between Individual, Duo, Family and Student?

#Premium Individual

One account, all the Premium features, including the audiobook hours. It's the right pick if you're the only heavy listener in your home.

#Premium Duo

Duo gives you two separate Premium accounts, each with its own playlists and recommendations. Spotify sells it "for couples who reside at the same address." Compared with two Individual plans ($25.98), Duo saves $6.99 a month, or $83.88 a year.

#Premium Family

Family covers up to six Premium accounts for family members residing at the same address, with parental controls for every member. With a full house, each account costs under $4. Even with three people, the share is $7.33 each, well below Individual.

#Premium Student

At $6.99/mo, Student costs about 46% less than Individual, and Spotify's US page lists access to Hulu with it, subject to eligibility. The rules, according to Spotify's support page:

• you must attend an eligible accredited higher education institution, verified through SheerID;
• the discount lasts up to 4 years, and you need to renew and reverify every 12 months.

Monthly prices look small, so it helps to see the yearly total, and how much more you pay now than before the July 2023 increase:

A Family plan now costs $72 more a year than it did in mid-2023. Split six ways, though, it's still about $44 per person per year, less than four months of Individual.

Every row is below Duo's $9.50 per person, so once a third person joins, Family is the cheaper choice.

#Does Spotify have an annual plan?

Not in the US. Spotify's US Premium page lists only monthly plans, so there's no built-in discount for paying a year upfront. That makes the plan type your main lever: moving from Individual to Duo or Family cuts the price per person far more than any annual discount would.

A quick way to decide:

• You live alone and listen daily: Individual.
• A couple living together: Duo, at $9.50 per person.
• Three or more people at the same address: Family. At three accounts, it already costs less than Duo plus an Individual ($31.98).
• College student: Student, for up to 4 years. Factor in the Hulu access if you'd otherwise pay for it.
• You listen now and then: the free tier, with ads, may be enough. You give up full control over song order and offline downloads.

1. Use the free trial once. Spotify offers a trial to people who have never had Premium. Set a reminder for the day before the first charge.
2. Consolidate your household. Three people on Family pay less in total than two Individual plans.
